Landscapes of the Sacred Reading 2

On page 73 of Landscapes of the Sacred, it talks about Native American spirituality and how sacred places are treated within their culture. As I was reading, the book talks about how Native Americans honor and treat these places that are considered sacred. As I was reading this section of the book, I made a connection to this show that I watched. There is this show on the History channel called The Secrets of Skinwalker Ranch. Now, this show is about a group of scientists who study different phenomena that have happened on this ranch in Colorado. On this ranch, called Skinwalker Ranch there have been many animal mutilations, “spaceships' ' or alienlike events that have been observed, and beings (skinwalkers) that have been reported on the ranch. This ranch used to be home to many Native Americans, and I believe that it is considered a sacred place because of the stories and pictures that have been passed down throughout the years. I find it interesting that this book talks about Native Americans and this area of Colorado very similarly to how the show talks about these things. After having read this book and watched the show, I’ve come to the conclusion that many Native Americans' land is considered sacred or that they just treat it as such. I definitely think that this is my favorite book that we read this year. I found it very interesting to get to read about all the sacred places and how it’s decided if a place is sacred or not.
