Natural Setting

Growing up, my sister and I spent a lot of time playing outside together. However, growing up pretty close to the city, my sister and I rarely had the chance to go outside in the woods and play. Most of our outside time was spent on our street in our neighborhood. So, our class trip to Lions Gate Bridge reminded me of the times when my sister and I were younger and we got away from our suburban life. I found it very interesting to have the opportunity to do our class outside rather than sitting inside of a  building. I really enjoyed seeing the water, trees, and animals that inhabit the surrounding area of Lions Gate Bridge. As I've gotten older, I have forgotten the beauty of nature and how peaceful it can be. More importantly, the class at Lions Gate Bridge quickly brought back the memories of playing outside and the beauty of nature that I had forgotten about. I really enjoyed watching the sunset over the water. Even though it was a cloudy day, you could still see the red from the sun move through the clouds as the sunset. Another thing that I liked was seeing the different colors of the leaves since the fall time was approaching us. I liked when Dr. Redick talked about how plants have emotions. It made me think about how something as simple as a leaf or a tree can feel the same things that I feel; a plant can get sick and die the same way humans can. This class was a reminder that it’s essential to get outside and enjoy the peacefulness that nature has to offer. I think that it’s super necessary to get away from reality and spend time outside because while we were at Lions Gate Bridge, I felt like I was 1,000 miles away from CNU and I felt genuinely connected to my surroundings.
