Samuel Williams Blog Reflection for Phenomenology of Prayer
Blog Reflection for Phenomenology of Prayer: November 29th, 2022
While reading the book Phenomenology of Prayer, there was something that caught my eye on page 17. As I was reading, I had to go back and read over this section to be able to understand the significance of it. Once I realized the section's significance, it made me understand the story it was telling so much better. On this page, there was one word that stood out to me. Imagination. First off, the passage talked about a story that involved the Lord, a character named Eli, and a character named Samuel. Of course, Samuel is my name so I found that very interesting. More importantly, the story that was told on this page was what made me reflect and think about my experiences. Going back to the concept of imagination, this was what made me think so hard about this part of the book. When I re-read the section, I realized just how much this word means to pray. Imagination is the center of prayer. When we pray, we imagine. This concept made me reflect on everything I have done in church, Sunday school, and prayer. This passage really made me think about all of that, and this was definitely one of the most interesting moments in any book that I have read for this class.
