Samuel Williams Blog Reflection for Term Paper

Blog Reflection for Term Paper: November 30th, 2022

This paper was definitely the longest paper that I have written at CNU so far. Most of the papers I have written were between 3 to 5 pages which is why this one was definitely different. However, due to my planning schedule and timing, I actually finished the paper in three days. The first day, I worked on it for an hour and a half. The second day, I worked on it for the same amount of time. On the third day, I went through the paper to make sure grammar was good, writing was clear, and it could be read and interpreted easily. Overall, While the essay was pretty simple, there were several parts of the process that were quite difficult. The first part that was clearly a challenge was making it seven pages. I had to add more commentary, more evidence, and more explanations with information to make the paper go to seven pages. I wrote the introduction paragraph almost as a memoir from the time in my life when I realized the difference between pilgrimage and tourism, which was the prompt that I chose. After the introduction paragraph and the thesis, the rest of the paper had claims that tied back into my thesis with some outside information as well. For example, there were several parts of the paper where I went into detail about specific pilgrimages such as the Appalachian Trail and the Camino de Santiago. The explanations from these tied back into my thesis and explanation bringing together the entire paper. I used lots of different evidence as well which helped support the claim that I made in my thesis. All of the evidence included lots of commentary and descriptions as well. In conclusion, this essay was a challenge. Thankfully, I timed the writing process really well so not only was I able to write a decent essay but I was also able to add parts to the essay that made it overall easier to understand which made a better argument in the end.
