Samuel Williams Blog Reflection on Thesis Project
Blog Reflection on Thesis Project: November 17th, 2022
For the thesis project, I was smart with the planning and I got it done weeks before it was due. I took advantage of timing and I got the assignment done the night it was assigned. For the actual thesis project itself, I actually enjoyed writing it. The prompt that I picked asked what the difference was between going somewhere on a pilgrimage and going somewhere as a tourist. For this, I wrote the paragraph and thesis based on my real life experience. The experience I chose to use was when I went to go salmon fishing on the Miramichi river in New Brunswick Canada over the summer. I knew that the river was extremely sacred in the sport of fly fishing, but what I had no idea about was just how sacred it really was. After my trip, I knew the difference between a pilgrimage and tourism very clearly. This experience helped me write my thesis and also helped me come up with a foundation for the essay. The whole project took me about an hour to complete, which was not too bad. However, there were some things that I did not do well. When I submitted my assignment, Redick sent me some recommendations. These recommendations told me to fix my thesis as there were too many statements in one sentence. After all of this advice, I was able to narrow down my thesis and make it sound much cleaner. Now, I have a solid thesis that will work very well in the future.
