The Mirror Visitor series 11/04/2022

 

Recently, I finished a book called ‘A Winter’s Promise’ By Christelle Dabos, it is the first book in a quartet series. In the book, God is the antagonist, who caused the Rupture where the world was shattered into many floating celestial islands, known as arks.  On each ark  there is a family spirit who kind of reminds me of the gods and goddesses from Greek mythology, all the family spirits are sons and daughters of “God.” The book has been translated from French to English, but I’m not sure if that really plays a part in anything. When reading I couldn’t believe the author made God an antagonist in her book, even though I’m not religious I come from a very Irish-Catholic family and the entire time I was imagining my relatives reading this book or even asking them about it and they would be mortified. Even though the book is set in a fantasy world, and doesn’t reflect the characteristics of the real world.
