The phenomenology of Prayer 2

In the book, The Phenomenology of Prayer, the book talks about how prayer brings us as humans closer to the divine. The divine, meaning God. I think that it's really interesting that people don’t just pray to speak to God but also to get closer to Him. I feel as though you can connect this book with the different blogs that we read about trail hikers. When people go on these hikes they are looking for an “opening” or a spiritual passage. I feel as though when someone goes on these hikes it’s their way of connecting with God and getting closer to Him; getting closer to the Divine. This book really showed me what it means to pray and be devoted to God and how to use my religion in a good way. After reading most of the book, some questions did pop into my head. If someone doesn’t believe in God but wants to, should they start with praying? In my opinion, I think that praying should be the first step in wanting to get closer to God. I will definitely carry the information from this book with me as I continue with my own religious journey. I’ve really enjoyed all the readings that we’ve done this school year, they have been super helpful for my own religious journey.
