In the book Image and Pilgrimage in Christian Culture the author talks about being able to soak in the meaning of the event you are learning about. If you are learning about your faith and come across an event you need to be able to understand and fully comprehend the event so you can fully enable your faith and be committed to it. While learning about the event the author talks about absorbing the event into your mind and comprehending it in a way that makes sense to you. The author also talks about you should be able to incorporate the event's lessons into your own life and be able to utilize those lessons to not make the same mistake or be able to follow the ways of the people who have done well. The author did a very good job on this topic if you don't understand an event in your faith then what's the point of talking about or learning about it.
